WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway has rescheduled its inaugural “King of the Clay” event to Sunday, October 5 due to a predicted washout on the original Saturday date. The event – which begins at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday – is the second round of the three-race “Battle at the Bowl” dirt track series and features a 50-lap, $5,000-to-win race for Big Block and Small Block Modifieds, plus Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, Mini Stocks, and the Enduro Series championship finale.

Expected entries for the “King of the Clay” Modified race include six-time Devil’s Bowl Speedway track champion Kenny Tremont, Jr., World of Outlaws Late Model star Tim Fuller, and top local racers Elmo Reckner, Don Mattison, and Frank Hoard, III, among others. Tremont added last week’s LawPower.com Slate Valley Showdown at Devil’s Bowl to his list of victories on the year, while the well-traveled Fuller has won in Arizona, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania this season.

With nearly 40 Sportsman cars in the pit area last week and a similar field expected on Sunday, that division’s 30-lap, $750-to-win race is entirely up for grabs. Home track stars Vince Quenneville, Jr., Leon Gonyo, Johnny Scarborough, and Billy Lussier are expected to take on Bear Ridge Speedway’s Chris Donnelly and Kevin Chaffee, Colin Bokus and Chris Murray of Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Cody Hunt of Lebanon Valley Speedway, and many more.

Randy Miller and Bill Duprey will lead the eight-cylinder Renegade division back to Devil’s Bowl after running 1-2 last week, and Rob Gioia tops the four-cylinder Mini Stocks after his victory in the opener. “Mr. Bojangles” Shawn Fountain leads the Enduro Series heading to Sunday’s race; he won two of the four events on the asphalt half-mile at Devil’s Bowl and will now try to lock up the crown on the dirt.

The rescheduled “King of the Clay” event begins at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5. General admission is $20 for adults and free for kids age 12 and under.
