People’s United Bank 100 Postponed to Sunday at Devil’s Bowl

Third time hopefully the charm for Vt. State Championship race

WEST HAVEN, VT – An unfavorable weather forecast that includes periods of heavy rain and potential flooding in Vermont has prompted Devil’s Bowl Speedway officials to postpone the People’s United Bank 100 stock car event from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30 at 2:00pm. The move has been taken as a precautionary measure for local fans and competitors as well as those traveling longer distances that may be affected by the weather.

The People’s United Bank 100, which was also postponed by rain on its original June 7 date, is the second round of the four-race Vermont State Late Model Championship Series. More than 30 Late Model race teams from Devil’s Bowl Speedway and Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT are expected to attempt qualifying for the main event.

“Hopefully the third time is the charm for this race,” Devil’s Bowl promoter Mike Bruno said. “The weather hasn’t done anyone any favors lately, but the forecast is looking better for the weekend. We do want to thank our race teams, our fans, and especially our sponsor People’s United Bank for their understanding and flexibility all year. We’re expecting a great event on Sunday afternoon.”

The People’s United Bank-sponsored event also includes NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship events for the Bond Auto Parts Modified and Central Vermont Motorcycles Mini Stock divisions. General admission for the special event is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, and free for children 12 and under. Grandstand seating opens at 12:00 noon, with racing scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.
