Rutland’s Rock Station to present Devil’s Bowl Speedway opener for third straight year
RUTLAND, VT – The spring air will be filled with two awesome sounds when Devil’s Bowl Speedway opens its gates on May 3rd and 4th – racecars and rock music. Rutland’s Rock Station, 101.5 The Fox, will present the weekend festivities of the Spring Green stock car event for the third consecutive year, and welcomes the Rutland County community to get to know the stars of the American-Canadian Tour and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Spring Green weekend opens Saturday, May 3 with the third annual Downtown Fan Festival on Center Street in the heart of Rutland City. Fans have the opportunity to see racecars up close and meet the drivers at a free car show beginning at 9:00 a.m. The annual Pit Stop Competition cranks the dial up at 11:00 a.m., putting the skills of the mechanics to the test in a timed two-tire changeover. The show goes out with a rumble at 12:00 noon when the engines fire up for a rolling sendoff through the streets of Rutland.
Sunday, May 4 at 1:30 p.m., the racecars are unleashed at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in nearby West Haven for the 101.5 The Fox Spring Green. The event is a northeastern racing favorite, featuring the very best regional ACT stars and the local heroes of the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. Wayne Helliwell, Jr., nipped Brian Hoar in the closest recorded finish in ACT history (.027 seconds) in last year’s Spring Green, and Todd Stone kicked off a record-breaking season with a win in the Bond Auto Parts Modified division.
Race fans can tune into 101.5 The Fox for coverage of Spring Green events throughout the May 3-4 weekend. Saturday’s Downtown Fan Festival will be broadcast live, and lap-by-lap action of the ACT Spring Green will be heard on Sunday afternoon.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway staff was quick to credit its local sponsors and partners in helping to make the weekend a fun experience for longtime race fans and new fans of all ages.
“Devil’s Bowl has come a long way recently, and it’s because we have great partners who care about this community like 101.5 The Fox, the Downtown Rutland Partnership, and the Rutland Regional Chamber of Commerce,” Devil’s Bowl owner Alayne Bruno said. “The fan festival keeps growing, and we’re honored that it’s in Rutland. We encourage everyone to come down to Center Street on Saturday to check out the shopping, the restaurants, and the racecars, and then see some awesome racing at Devil’s Bowl on Sunday.”
The 101.5 The Fox Spring Green is on Sunday, May 4 at 1:30 p.m. General admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors (62+), and free for kids 12 and under.
