Action-Packed Weekend Ahead at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

Fireworks and C.J. Richards Memorial on Asphalt; Double features on Dirt

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway is geared up for a jam-packed weekend of stock car racing on August 6-7. The Rutland County facility hosts NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing on its half-mile Asphalt Track on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m., and the 3/10-mile Dirt Track runs on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m., each boasting a program overflowing with excitement.

Carrara Masonry & Concrete hosts the action on the Asphalt Track on Saturday night, as the Bond Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds race in their most prestigious summer event, the fifth annual “C.J. Richards Memorial” in honor of the late Devil’s Bowl Speedway founder. The race will be 67 total laps – a nod to the track’s opening in 1967 – run in three scored segments with a combined overall winner. Top drivers including Jason Durgan, Vince Quenneville Jr., Ron Proctor, and breakout star Billy Lussier will each be seeking their first win in the event.

The Modified race is only part of Saturday’s big event, though, as a fireworks display will light up the summer night sky. Other on-track action will include the Central Vermont Motorcycles Late Model, Rosen & Berger Renegade, and Portland Glass Mini Stock divisions, along with the wildly unpredictable Enduro Series for amateur racers and junkyard-relic racecars.

Special general admission on Saturday, August 6 is $15.00 for adults, $13.00 for seniors (62+), $5.00 for teens (13-17), and free for kids age 12 and under. Parking and camping are always free. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., and racing begins at 7:00 p.m.

The focus shifts to the Dirt Track on Sunday night, August 7 at 6:00 p.m., as the Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, and Mini Stocks each run double feature races. The headline Sportsman Modifieds will race in twin 25-lap main events, while the intermediate Renegades and entry-level Mini Stocks each run a pair of 15-lappers.

Regular general admission on Sunday, August 7 is $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors (62+), $5.00 for teens (13-17), and free for kids age 12 and under. Gates open at 4:00 p.m., and racing begins at 6:00 p.m.
