Extra-distance races, blockbuster fireworks display on special July 4 card
WEST HAVEN, VT – Vermont’s largest and loudest Independence Day celebration is at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Wednesday, July 4 as Coca-Cola presents the Firecracker Twin 44s stock car spectacular. Racers from the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will be featured in extra-distance 44-lap events for the Bond Auto Parts Modified and J&S Steel Late Model divisions, plus regular events for the Renegade and Bomber classes, the first-ever Daredevil exhibition race, and a massive fireworks display.
“We’re pulling out all the stops for this one,” Devil’s Bowl Speedway promoter Mike Bruno said. “We guarantee that there won’t be a more action-packed show anywhere in Vermont on our nation’s birthday than right here at Devil’s Bowl.”
Home track stars Ron Proctor, Vince Quenneville, Jr., Leon Gonyo, Jessey Mueller, and Hunter Bates will be out in full force for the 44-lap Modified event, and several outside drivers are expected to invade the Devil’s Bowl track in pursuit of the inflated $1,200 winner’s purse. The Late Model division will have its own 44-lap, $1,200-to-win feature race, and point leader Craig Bushey will have to fend off top runners Matt White, Bryan Town, Kevin Elliott, and Dan Petronis.
Robert Gordon, Jeremy Jones, and Ryan Keith will continue their tight three-way battle for the Renegade championship, and the Bomber division will try to continue reeling in five-time winner and rookie sensation Josh Masterson. Added to the event will be the first exhibition race for the new Daredevil class. The Daredevils are track-owned race cars that will offer fans, sponsors, and others a chance to experience real racing at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. A group of select Coca-Cola employees will christen the cars with a race during intermission.
Green flag qualifying action for the Coca-Cola Firecracker Twin 44s begins at 5:00pm on Wednesday, July 4. Admission for the blockbuster event is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors (62+), and free for children 12 and under. Gates open at 3:00pm. Special fan amenities include the Interstate Batteries-sponsored “Fun Bus” for race track and pit area tours, a video arcade, and the “Devil’s Den” lounge.
