Food coupons for all in costume; contest to give bigger prizes
WEST HAVEN, VT – The Halloween holiday is coming to Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, October 26. The track will reward all race fans that wear a Halloween costume to the Autosaver Ford/Springfield Buick-GMC “Vermont Freedom & Unity” event with a $3.00 food coupon for the concession stands.
“Call it ‘Track or Treat’ maybe? We usually don’t get to have any races around Halloween, so we’re not wasting the opportunity to have a little extra fun on Sunday,” Devil’s Bowl announcer Andy Hall said. “We’re encouraging our fans, young and old, to wear a costume on Sunday and not only save a few bucks on food, but also have a chance to win some other cool prizes.”
Indeed, other prizes will be given out during a Halloween costume contest held during intermission at the event. The contest is open to all ages, and the top three costumes will receive trophies and general admission tickets for Devil’s Bowl Speedway events in 2015.
The event is the third and final race of the “Battle at the Bowl” dirt track series, and champions will be crowned in the Sportsman Modified, Renegade, and Mini Stock divisions. Vince Quenneville, Jr. tops Adam Pierson by just eight points in the Sportsman class, while Bill Duprey and Scott Richner hold slim three-point leads in the Renegade and Mini Stock ranks, respectively. The 100-lap, $2,000-to-win Sportsman feature will also be the final race for the Northern Modified Challenge Series, as Jessey Mueller looks to wrap up the title.
The Bond Auto Parts Sprint Cars of New England tour will make its Devil’s Bowl debut at the event and close its championship season with a $1,000-to-win race. Chris Donnelly has a 37-point lead on Danny Douville, followed by Clay Dow, Kevin Chaffee, and rookie Luke Greenwood. A special $1,000-to-win event will also be held for the Sportsman Coupe division from Bear Ridge Speedway.
Grandstand general admission for the Autosaver Ford/Springfield Buick-GMC “Vermont Freedom & Unity” event on Sunday, October 26 is $20 for adults and free for kids 12 and under, with pit passes at $40. Pit gates will open at 9:00 a.m., with the grandstands open at 11:00 a.m. Hot laps will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by Sportsman time trials at 12:30 p.m. Green flag racing action starts at 1:00 p.m.
