Enduro rescheduled for August 24; NASCAR events to be rescheduled soon
WEST HAVEN, VT – A bleak weather forecast has forced Devil’s Bowl Speedway to postpone its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing program for Friday, August 17. The event was to be presented by Green Mountain Water Environment Association and Sunoco Race Fuels, and included twin 20-lap features for the J&S Steel Late Model division, a 75-lap Enduro race, and regular races for the Bond Auto Parts Modified, Renegade, and Bomber divisions.
A long line of rain showers and thunderstorms – some severe – was forecasted to move into the West Haven, VT area during the afternoon of Friday, August 17. Track promoter Mike Bruno said that the safety of the fans and racers was his first priority.
“We’ve been lucky with the weather all year, just not for tonight,” Bruno said. “With a 60-70% chance of thunderstorms and lightning for our area this afternoon and evening, there was no other decision to make. The unfortunate incident at Pocono a few weeks ago reminded us how important fan safety is at the races, and we can’t put our fans in harm’s way.”
The Enduro event for 4- and 6-cylinder automobiles has been rescheduled for next week, Friday, August 24, on Sugar & Spice Restaurant Night. An announcement regarding make-up dates for the rest of the events will be made soon.
