B. Wood, C. LaVair penalized for unapproved wheel offsets
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway officials on Monday announced two penalties in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Portland Glass Mini Stock division.
The No. 802 car, driven by Brett Wood, and the No. 4 car, driven by C.J. LaVair, have each been placed at the rear of the finish order for the Community College of Vermont Night race run on Saturday, July 30 on the half-mile Asphalt Track at Devil’s Bowl. Both infractions were for using wheels with unapproved offset measurements.
Wood has been dropped from his original second-place finish to 13th place, and LaVair has been dropped from his original fourth-place finish to 14th place. These penalties are consistent with those levied to other drivers at previous events for similar rulebook violations.
With the penalties, the revised top-five finishing order is now Zach Wood, Eric Messier, Brad Bertrand, Garrett Given Sr., and Andrew FitzGerald.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway officials have announced that after three consecutive Mini Stock races with wheel offset violations, there is now a zero-tolerance policy in place for all existing tire and wheel rules. Any future violations in this area will now result in a full disqualification, effective immediately.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s Asphalt Track is back in action on Saturday, July 30 at 7:00 p.m. on the Asphalt Track as the Community College of Vermont presents Twin 25s for the Sportsman Modifieds. General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+) and teens (13-17), and free for kids 12 and under.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of Exit 2 off of U.S. Route 4 and just 20 minutes from Rutland, Vt.
